Listening Garden was developed as a sonic alteration of two quiet indoor/outdoor tea spaces installed at the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media in Yamaguchi, Japan in June of 2004. The audio installation was designed to heighten visitor's senses and alter the sonic space as they sat, read, or had quiet conversation amongst the trees. Taylor Deupree and Christopher Willits composed a number of short, randomly sequenced multi-channel soundworks using guitar and electronics. The fragments of sounds, while both gentle and subtly rich, are intentionally weathered, eroded and understated, generating a sonic bridge between the digital world of sound and the audiosphere of nature.
The audio on this CD is built from location recordings taken in the garden over the course of a week during the exhibit. The environmental and incidental sounds played a large part of the physical work and are captured and utilized in the recording. Listening Garden is meant to enhance the experience of simply sitting and enjoying one's place in time.
This CD is best heard in a similar situation and at a low background level. Headphones are not recommended.

LINE is proud to present the first full length collaboration by Richard Chartier and Taylor Deupree since 1999's Spec. (12k).
For this collaboration, sound artists Richard Chartier and Taylor Deupree were invited by the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, DC, to create a new live work inspired by the Seascapes series of renowned Japanese photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto on the occasion of his retrospective exhibition. The result is this live recording, Specification.Fifteen. This work premiered on March 30, 2006 in front of the curved panoramic window of the Museum's Lerner Room as the sun set across the city's skyline. Specification.Fifteen evokes the stillness and opposing yet related spaces of Sugimoto's Seascapes, which suggest infinitesimal change and variation under a seemingly uniform surface.

The noble label is proud to announce its 10th release: Every Still Day by Taylor Deupree and eisi. The sound artist based in New York, Taylor Deupree, reconstructed the seventh release from the noble label back in 2003, the album titled awaawa by the group eisi. First released in 2003, melodies spinning softly upwards into the gentle air, the ethereal voice of Mujika Easel melting into serenity, eisi's awaawa brought forth a storm of quiet excitement among listeners.
New York-based musician Taylor Deupree liked awaawa and requested to work on the reconstruction project. Deupree owns three labels of his own: 12k, LINE and Happy, and he has also released albums from major world labels such as Mille Plateaux, Raster-Noton, and Sub Rosa.
eisi sent Deupree individual tracks of the songs on the original album, live recordings, and unreleased versions. Deupree preserved the organic quality of the original tracks as he applied his own style of delicate digital processing, weaving the layers and fragments into the sonic tapestry that is this album.
San Francisco musician Christopher Willits added his characteristic warm guitar-work to the album. Willits also collaborated with Deupree on a release last year.
In his recent work Deupree has revealed glimpses of his more melodic style of music. This fresh and unique electro-acoustic masterpiece is one place where Deupree has arrived in a musical journey toward acoustic sounds.
