Burned Bridges And Lost Loves is the second part of a project in which friends, colleagues and lovers were asked to remix the works of Chicago improvisation-trio TV Pow. Like its predecessor Power Friends and Devoted Lovers, a double-album that contains 29 remixes, the second and final installment also offers remixes of tracks that are mostly taken from TV Pow's album Friendship Patrol. Adding another 31 remixes, the total amount of remixes is now equal to the amount of tracks that feature on Friendship Patrol. On the original score TV Pow managed to create a evolving soundscape of unidentifiable field recordings, minimal electronics and serene ambient drones. It's no surprise that Friendship Patrol happened to be a grateful source for further exploration.

Real and virtual synthesizers, no-input mixing boards, empty and full samplers emit a distant field recording, an oscillating oscillator, pulsing crystal highs, deep solid lows, and a lone bass drum hit. The musicians' egoless multi-individualism and symbiotic aesthetic help to further explore the recently developed genre of future-electronics. Wrapped in the finest tree-safe elephant and giraffe dung papers.

TV Pow is a trio of free improvisers first organized in Tokyo 1995 by Michael Hartman and Brent Gutzeit, and later joined by Todd Carter in the move to Chicago in 1996. They employ samplers, percussion, invented instruments, synthesizers, turntables, tape manipulation, computers and multi-speaker surround-sound systems in a constantly evolving soundscape of sparkling electronics, ambient drones, minimalist techno, and cinematic field recordings. Creating through live performance something both new and recombinant, TV Pow has toured throughout Japan, Europe, and the United States.*
TV Pow has recorded and/or performed with Otomo Yoshihide, Erik M, John Butcher, Town and Country, Sachiko M, James Plotkin, Stilluppsteypa, Gene Coleman and Ensemble Noamnesia, and Taku Sugimoto. TV Pow has releases on Gentle Giant Records, Box Media, Staalplaat, Erstwhile Records, and forthcoming a CD on Fire Inc.
*(still they are banned from Canada)
TV Pow has released material on their Boxmedia label and Gentle Giant and forthcoming works on Erstwhile (a collaboration with Stilluppsteypa) and Fire Inc.
This recording at the Dutch VPRO studios was recorded during their first trip to Europe in 1999. TV Pow will return to Europe in fall for more concerts. The members are involved in various solo activities, such as Aerospace Soundwise, Wheaton Research, and Black Dot.
