Since April 2005, the Stilll label's reputation has continued to grow. The Brussels-based label's first compilation, Stilllysm, confirms a commitment to the best in organic electronic post-pop music with melancholic tinge. The compilation includes music from established artists such as Mitchell Akiyama, Aoki Takamasa aMute, Ghislain Poirier, Peter Principle, Off the Sky, Christophe Bailleau, Benjamin Lew... as well as newer names, including the post-jazz duo Tangtype, the sonic destructured post-rock of Mikale de Graff, the extremely talented Holiday for Strings (who will soon release their official debut album as a co-production between Stilll and the Canadian label Intr-Version) and many other excellent surprises such as Immune and Nox, both future full releases from Stilll. Sometimes melodic and dynamic, other times vast, contemplative and ambient, Stilllysm is a cohesive and powerful record that will listeners in anticipation of the great things to come from this new label.

Twenty one artists were invited to contribute a sound piece inspired by Karlheinz Stockhausen's seminal composition premiered in 1956: Gesang Der Jünglinge.
If a music piece is taught in music lessons in highschool, and held high as a landmark of a specific style or method or epoch,we would add it to the common cultural goods, just as we might do with our knowledge of, say, statesmen or famous artists. Therefore we would speak of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Gesang der Jünglinge as part of our common cultural goods, and as the example of electronic music that is widely known outside its field. The piece has even been embraced by popular culture:The Beatles as the composer himself advertises on his website have not only used a black and white photograph of Stockhausen on the cover of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", but Paul McCartney has also claimed "Gesang der Jünglinge" as his favorite piece by Stockhausen. The band "Sonic Youth" has declared that their name directly stems from the piece's title.
Apart from these general facts, the piece marks a turning point in electronic music for its use of spatialisation on multichannel speakers as well as the unique melting of human voice and electronically generated sound.
The works on this CD are not plain homage, nor are they sampled from the original. They are rather a survey of the current state of electronic/electroacoustic music that exists half outside the academic music life. The composers, musicians and artists on this CD are interested in locating themselves within their own history by further exploring the topics of sound spatialization and/or use of human voice with electronics, or they undertake a transformation of the original concept towards a personal approach to the sound, or to the original's biblical words.

For several years, the sponsorship department of the Caisse Des Dépôts has been helping contemporary creation in different forms: production aid and acquisition of artworks deposited in public collections, constitution of a photography collection, exhibition program in its parisian space 13 Quai Voltaire then at the Palais De Tokyo, interventions in urban space, actions in favour of contemporary dance... In the context of its "producion aid" program, the Caisse Des Dépôts has commissioned musical and sound works from visual artists as well as from electronic musicians, on the idea of sound environment.
Audiolab is in this way made up of a series of different sound pieces, specifically produced to be diffused inside an architectural module, created by young french designers. This space or listening chamber has been made to receive the visitor and allow for the optimal and environmental diffusion of sound. Patrick Jouin, Erwan and Ronan Bouroullec, as well as Laurent Massaloux have in this way each created a listening and sound immersion module, in which the sound works are diffused and made spacial. This compilation brings together the works produced by Audiolab 1 and 2, respectively conceived by Patrick Jouin and the Bouroullec brothers.

Four entities brought together under one title to explore the sculptural aspects of air moving through space. Sound, not just as a physical phenomenon, but as an intrinsically musical environment. Sébastien Roux (Paris) contributes two beautifully understated pieces of digitally processed guitar that brittle and burst with a fascinating spectrum of intricate details. Naoyuki Arashi a.k.a. Asuna (Tokyo) extends his harmonium through various computer processing in his intensely thick and amazingly hypnotic drone piece 'plural rooms'. The duo of Rossano Polidoro and Emiliano Romanelli, Tu-m' (Pescara) continue their adventures in plundered melodic fragmentation with two tracks of stuttering simplicity that are among their catchiest works. Unlike anything, yet instantly familiar Arden Hill a.k.a. Duul_Drv (Winnipeg) creates quiet environments where field recordings co-exist with electronics in such a natural way that one wonders if he has done anything at all. Object set, and motion.
