Over the past few years AGF has been critically well acclaimed for her poetry-based music and soundworks. Sound and speech have melted into one unique entity. The delicacy and intimacy AGF displays in her work knows very little equals in todays electronic and digital musics. "delayOnmyPillow" is no exception and simply is a great piece. Stichting Mixer is very proud to release this excellent work of integration of the human touch in the clinical digital domain of sound. "This eighteen minute work is based on recordings made in Tunesia, in 2001. It's hard to tell what this is about, as much of the text is hard to understand, it lies safely embedded in the music. Over the course of eighteen minutes she builds a clever collage of music and (processed) spoken word, which do not seem to tell a story, but rather invoke images; images in the head. | Elfde Mixer is compiled of material taken from the Kapotte Muziek USA tour back in 1993. De Waard's Fragment is an edited version of a liveshow did at that time (but still very close to the original recording), Roel Meelkop's side is reworked a bit more drastically and build from soundmaterial collected during the several workshops Kapotte Muziek has given while touring. Elfde Mixer is a split LP vinyl release in an edition of 300 copies. |

Australian's Pimmon offers four tracks in a more minimal style, or at
least less cut up/glitch style. Holding down a few keys on the board (or maybe
some soft synth, who can tell these days), adding some strings and the result
is a gliding scale of almost melodies, so popmusic is lurking around the
corner. More Pimmon old style I guess, but in all it's simplicity effective
stuff. Kohn from Belgium is on the other side. More so then Pimmon he is at the forefront of electronica meeting popmusic. His four tracks here are effectively filled with clicks, electronica loops, but also an ordinary drum computer hammering out a fat groove or almost ambient like wave pattern in his final track. Wrikken is a collaboration between Dutchmen Joris van Perlo and Ivo Bol. Both having played in several punk and new age-bands, both being bored with those genres, both discovering the possibilities of electronic processing... The combination of electronics and their former acoustic instruments, or rather the electronic re-interpretation of those, is like a red-line through their work. Although not recognisable as such, the sound of Wrikken is based on sampling and distillating their acoustic recordings, which are manipulated over and over. You could say they use/sample the real-time accessibility and behaviour of these instruments, rather than the sound of them. The result is a diverse mix in sound and atmosphere. Becoming more known in the small Dutch world of experimental electronic music, this is their debut release, hopefully giving them more exposure outside of the Lowlands as well. Achtste Mixer is a thick 7" vinyl release, limited edition of 200 copies. |

Cedric Pigot from France is an installation/sound artist who is responsible for soundtracks for performances, films and installations. I am not sure if there are any other releases by him, but this is my first encounter. For reasons also unknown to me, there is only 1 track on the CD, but it sounds like various pieces to me. Pigot seems to put emphasis on small sounds. Short pieces of layered drones and interrupted by crackles and rhythms. However Pigot stays far away from a 4/4 click 'n cut beat and brings his own sound. Although at times sketchy in approach, this is a very nice piece. (FdW)(Vital)
